Situated on the Mekong River, 75 kilometers southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, the city is surrounded by orchards and rice fields, which produce grain for the entire country. Visit one or two of the islands that produce traditional handcrafts, coconut candy and bee farms. Visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda, the oldest one in the delta on your boat trip on the Mekong River. Return to Ho Chi Minh City. Check in hotel & stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Today you will visit the largest Vietnamese city. There are street markets, sidewalk cafes and sleek new bars. This teeming metropolis offers 300 years of timeless traditions and the beauty of an ancient culture. To the west of the city is the huge Chinese neighborhood called Cho lon, which means "Big Market." Notre Dame Cathedral, in the heart of Saigon's government quarter, is of neo- Romanesque architecture with two high square tower and iron spires. The Central Post Office is French-style and City Hall, known as "Hotel de Ville," is typical of the French architecture that would be seen in any village in France. Visit the War Remnants Museum, featuring collections of weapons and photographs from the two Indochina wars. Leave Saigon for Cu Chi Tunnels to learn about Vietnam history & Vietnam War. After Cu Chi Tunnels you will take flight to Hanoi by Vietnam Airlines. Arrive Hanoi in the evening. Transfer to hotel for check in. Stay overnight in Hanoi.
Hanoi, a city of lakes, shaded boulevards and public parks, is the capital of Vietnam. It is a very attractive city with French-style architecture. You have a full day of sightseeing ahead, including a visit to One Pillar Pagoda, which was built by Ly Thai Tong and the Temple of Literature, founded by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong. Stop in the heart of Hanoi at Hoan Kiem Lake, which contains an islet with a tiny Tortoise Pagoda. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Opera House and St. Joseph Cathedral. Conclude with a visit to Bao Tang Lich, once the museum of l'Ecole Francaise d'Extreme Orient, which includes artifacts from Vietnam's turbulent history. Water Puppet Show, Cyclo visiting Old Quarter. Overnight in Hanoi.
Early this morning, we’ll drive from Hanoi to one of the most magnificent scenic environments in the world, Halong Bay. Covering 577 square miles, this vast bay is filled with more than 3,000 limestone “peaks” or karsts that jut from the deep blue water as far as the eye can see. We’ll spend a day and a half, including an overnight with dinner and breakfast onboard, exploring this overwhelming seascape from the decks of a traditional Vietnamese boat. Comfortable and intimate, your boat features hand-crafted wooden interiors including a dining room and pleasant air-conditioned cabins with private baths. Since we’re overnight on the water, we’ll be able to explore Ha Long Bay’s most beautiful spots with time to swim and even visit some of the largest rock formations and caves. This promises to be one of your most memorable travel experiences in Asia. Stay overnight on Boat.
Rising to the sound of lapping bay waters, we have time for an early morning dip followed by breakfast. Sitting on the upper deck, you can relax while taking in the breath-taking beauty of the rocky islands rising from the emerald water of the bay.

After breakfast, explore Sung Sot cave, swim and relax. Cruises back to the jetty while brunch is served while you are cruising through the bay, along the way seeing more of the fascinating formations. Cruise check-out. Rejoin car drive back to Hanoi for overnight. Arrive Hanoi at 3:00pm. Check in hotel & free time to go sightseeing in the Old Quarter. Overnight in Hanoi.

The dry season runs from November to April and the wet season from May to October. The hottest period is in March and April. Accessibility information
For people with wheelchairs, Indochina Explore Tours will need to consider some special care, especially with transportation. Some of the sites are not well-suited for wheelchairs. Normally, Indochina Explore Tours considers arranging private transport, and at some sites a porter. Please contact the travel consultants for more detailed information. Indochina Explore Tours has had some experience with the elderly, and those in wheelchairs. With a little creativity, those trips have been great, not missing a thing!

Dressing information
Lightweight and quick dry clothing is most appropriate for the summer months, and warmer clothing for the winter months. As well, sun hat, swim suit, ultra lightweight rain jacket. Please always dress appropriately. Not only for the Vietnam climate, but also to not cause offense to the local people. Vietnamese (and many tourist sites) have conservative dress codes. It is only in larger cities, like Saigon that these codes are relaxed a little.

What to bring
Travel documents such as passport, visa, travel insurance, air tickets, and scanned version of them. Email the file to yourself in case you lose them. Health requirement and medication are also important. For a comfortable and safe holiday, you may bring flashlight, alarm clock, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, small personal first aid kit, personal toiletries, raincoat or umbrella, US dollars or travelers checque and / or credit card(s), cable locks or padlocks for your luggage, camera with charger, extra batteries, and memory cards.

Travel assistance

Passport / visa
Travelers of most countries are required to get an entry visa before departure or a pre-approved entry visa (visa is issued on arrival at Vietnam’s international airports). Visas to Vietnam can be arranged in two ways, by applying at Vietnam embassies or consulates worldwide or by pick up upon arrival.

Before leaving for Vietnam, you should make sure you have received the appropriate vaccinations especially against Typhoid, Malaria, and Hepatitis A. Please ask your doctor for advice.

Medical information
All of the tour guides are well trained and have been briefed in what to do in an emergency. When necessary, Indochina Explore Tours will be taking extra resources such as porter, emergency provisions, and extra equipment. Further, all of guests will be briefed before the trip of any dangers. When a situation occurs where there is danger, you will be warned, and the safest option will be used.
Additionally, do drink plenty of bottled water. During the summer months you should be drinking a minimum of two liters per day. If you drink tea, coffee, or alcohol you should increase your water intake accordingly as these will dehydrate you. Indochina Explore Tours recommends that you carry a small personal first aid kit as well as any personal medications you may require.
Please be aware that for legal reasons, the local tour guides are prohibited from administering any type of drug or medication including headache tablets, antibiotics, and others. Please ensure that you are adequately prepared.

Important information
You can create your own date for the holiday. You only need to choose the dates that you want to travel and as long as you are happy to open the tour to other people who want to join, Indochina Explore Tours will charge you the standard tour price, without markups. There are some conditions for this option. Firstly, you must have booked and paid your deposit for travel dates that are at least one to three months in the future. This just gives Indochina Explore Tours time to promote the trip and find other people to join you.
Secondly, create your own date option applies for bookings of two or more people only. If you are a solo traveler, Indochina Explore Tours will do their best to get a group for the dates you choose but they cannot guarantee standard pricing until we achieve a minimum of two people. Next, this offer is subject to availability. In peak season, they may not have the capability to add tour dates to the already busy schedule.
Before venturing out from your hotel, make sure you do have a hotel business card with you. This will make your return to the hotel in a taxi or cyclo much easier! For longer excursions from your hotel, it is always a good idea to carry a roll of toilet paper in your pack or purse. You never know when you will need it. Always leave your excess cash, airline tickets, passports and valuables in the hotel’s safety deposit box.
Always be aware when entering someone’s home as at some homes you must please remove your shoes at the front door. Please always ask permission first when taking a photograph of someone. If they indicate that they do not want you to, then abide by their wishes. Please do not push the issue or offer money. Furthermore, there are some times when you shouldn’t even ask.
