Ratanakiri Mondulkiri Angkor Great Cambodia tour travel 15 days
Day 1: ARRIVAL in PHNOM PENH
Arrive in Phnom Penh capital of Cambodia. Reception at the airport, transfer to the hotel and first discovery (with English speaking guide and private car) from the city including visiting the Royal Palace and National Museum of Archaeology and Central Marcket depending of the time of arrival
Day 2: PHNOM PENH / KOMPONG CHAM / KRATIE
Breakfast. Departure for Kratie (6h drive with private car and English speaking guide) via Kompong Cham, on the shores of the Mekong through the small village of Skun, famous for its fried spiders … Visit the temple of Wat Nokhor 12th century. Continue to Kratie. Overnight in Kratie, standard simple hotel
Day 3: KRATIE-STUN STRENG – RATANAKIRI
Breakfast. Departure by car and English speaking guide to Banlung capital of Ratanakiri (about 4-5 hours drive). After installation at the hotel, departure to discover the volcanic lake Yeak Lom-shaped crater 5 km from Banlung, a circular lake which date from 700,000 years ago and is believed to originate from a falling meteorite. It is sacred belief of the tribes of Ratanakiri. Guest house accommodation
DAY 4: BANLUNG
Breakfast. Ratanakiri region of Cambodia is a very isolated and little visited. Tribes of different ethnic groups in villages particular constructions, roads or dirt tracks off a lot of red dust, or become filled with ruts and very slippery in the rain. forest rubber and pepper plantations,
In the morning, early, visit with the guide of Banlung market, a particular market who start every morning very early, different ethnicities (Kroeung, Tompuon, Jarai), to sell or exchange their products, vegetables, gathering in forest, game, etc.. These ethnic groups are very recognizable with a small round wicker basket that women wear on their backs or in front of them for the market. Then starting with car and guide for the village of Sai Voeune a track uncomfortable. This village is composed of several communities, Chinese, Laotian and Tompuon. DAY 5: BANLUNG
Breakfast. Departure by private car to meet the different ethnic groups in their villages, they are still small villages, some with single houses curiously mounted on bamboo poles several meters high. These ethnic groups are very poor and live in a ancestral way, village leader directs the life of the village. Visit waterfalls a few miles from the city, including that of Katieng (during the dry season, several waterfalls no longer work) and plantations of rubber trees. In the main street of Banlung you can watch the working of semi-precious stones Zircon extracted in quantity from remote mines in the deep district. Day 6: BANLUNG – KRATIE
Breakfast. Departure by private car and English speaking guide to Kratie. Kratie is a small town with some colonial houses. You can see Mekong Irrawaddy Dolphins. visit to the region by car, and in the late afternoon start small boat to see these large freshwater dolphins. Overnight in Kratie simple hotel.
Day 7: KRATIE / MONDULKIRI/ Sen Monorom
Departure for Sen Monorom capital of the province of Mondulkiri. (Dirt tracks, about 4 hours drive depending of the road)). This province is partly the border with Vietnam, it is isolated and sparsely populated and very interesting, forested with many waterfalls. This is one of the highest inhabited point of Cambodia ( 1000M of altitude) and cooler than Phnom Penh in summer, making it a resort in the hot season for Cambodia. (Few western tourists visit this region) The ethnic groups in particular customs and perennial Phnongs which inhabit the regions in long houses where are leaving dozens of people. Many jars (some from hundred years old) for alcohool and rice and traditional different gongs, are them most valuable possessions Overnight at Hotel in Sen Monorom, in bungalow
Day 8: MONDULKIRI (ELEPHANT RIDE)
Breakfast. We start to ride on elephant from a tribal village. Walk in the countryside about 2 hours through forests, small groups of tribal houses and waterfalls. Three-quarters of the province are protected territory (we can also offer you a full day elephant) In the depths of the forest, there are tigers, leopards, elephants, gibbons and wild oxen, it is nature in its purest form. Then visit some houses including ethnic longhouses Phnongs tribes. Overnight at Hotel Sen Monorom in bungalow
Day 9: MONDULKIRI Bousra Waterfalls
Breakfast. Departure by private car with guide to see great Bousra waterfalls by a dirt track through the chaotic toddlers villages (slow drive on rainy days because the track is slippery). The Bousra waterfalls are very beautiful and very popular. Back to Sen Monorom. Overnight at Hotel Sen Monorom in bungalow
Day 10: SEN MONOROM – PHNOM PENH
Breakfast. Departure by private car and English speaking guide to Phnom Penh ( 6 to 7 hours drive). Upon arrival, transfer to hotel. Night hotel
Day 11: PHNOM PENH / SIEM REAP
Breakfast. Departure by private car (without guide) to Siem Reap (Angkor gate). Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. With English speaking guide and private car, short visit of Siem Reap and sunset in the Site of Angkor from Phnom Bakhend hill. (If you want to make the trip to Siem Reap by plane, supplement of 70 dollars). Transfer to your hotel
Day 12: SIEM REAP (ANGKOR)
Breakfast. The morning with English speaking guide and private car, discovery of Angkor Thom: the mountain temple of Bayon, the Baphuon, the Terrace of the Leper King, the former Royal Palace and the Terrace of Elephants.
Afternoon, visit the famous Angkor Wat “the city that became a pagoda.” Transfer to your hotel
Day 13: SIEM REAP (ANGKOR).
Breakfast. The morning with English speaking guide and private car, visit the pre-Angkorian temple (9th century) Roluos: Bakong, Prah Ko and Lolei followed by the visit of the most amazing temples of Angkor site, the Ta Prohm temple and Ta Keo, lost in lush vegetation and the small temples of Neak Pean. Then we visit Preah Khan, Thommanon and large basins (the Baray). Transfer to your hotel
Day 14: SIEM REAP (BANTEAY SREI)
Breakfast. Tour with English speaking guide and private car to Banteay Srei “City of Women”, a jewel of pink sandstone carved, entirely dedicated to Shiva and built in the 10th century by King Jayavarman V, via the temple of Prasat Kravan built in the year 921. In the afternoon, visit of Baray Oriental sites built by Rajendravarman: Banteay Kdey, Pre Rup, Preasat Khleang, Mebon Oriental. Visit a pagoda-monastery wher young monks are studying. Transfer to your hotel
Day 15: LAKE TONLE SAP / DEPARTURE
Breakfast. Excursion on the Tonle Sap Lake with guide and private boat to explore the floating fishing villages (Vietnamese village). Depending of your departure time, visit Old Siem Reap and transfer to airport 2h1 / 2 before the departure of your flight.
